THE HOST
Dr Desmond Graham
Dr. Desmond Graham, widely known as Dr. Des, is a dedicated specialist in aged care, though he prefers to be recognised as a ‘Healthy Ageing Specialist.’ He is deeply committed to educating and empowering the community on how to maintain activity and independence as they age. Adopting a proactive approach, Dr. Des strives to equip individuals with practical tools that not only promote the concept of Healthy Ageing but also enhance independence and quality of life.
Dr. Des's passion for Healthy Ageing is deeply rooted in his upbringing in Broken Hill, a regional area in New South Wales. Witnessing firsthand the healthcare disparities that his family and friends faced, particularly in accessing specialist services and educational resources, inspired him to pursue a career in healthcare.
With over 14 years of medical training and experience, Dr. Des's journey began with studies in nursing at the University of Tasmania before transitioning to Newcastle University, where he completed his medical degree. Now based in Sydney, he practices as a geriatrician. A recipient of the prestigious Alek Safarian Scholarship at the University of Sydney, Dr. Des recently completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA), equipping him with the skills to drive meaningful, long-lasting change in the healthcare sector.
As the Chief Medical Officer at Geriatric Care Australia, Dr. Des leads a dedicated team that provides both in-person and telemedicine support to patients in the community. For more information on how to book an appointment with a geriatrician, see here: how to book.
